Community Pool Picket settles in
On behalf of all Sunshine and surrounding suburbs familes and residents we would like to thank the Trades Hall (in particular the CFMEU), Union Solidarity, Western Suburbs Community and Union Coalition for all of your help and support with our picket.

Special thanks to all residents who have volunteered time to man the picket and/or spread the word and the union groups for supplying the caravan, toilets, BBQ, generator and all of the good advice!

The support from passers-by has also been terrific.

The few cynics that have come by were astounded when they found out that the new $9 million pool is only three feet deep at the deep end! (Good money after bad)

If you can help us with spending some time on the pool roster please call the pool picket hotline on 0408 521 913 and book yourself in for a couple of hours.

We have tea, coffee, food, toilets, warmth, board games, and lots of discussion about how to end this battle with the council so that we can have a win/win for families, schools, sports groups, as well as council and the State Government.

We invite all residents, councillors, government and union officials and members to come down, have a chat and see if we can finalise this lengthy campaign to restore a decent swimming complex for the 70,000 residents in the Sunshine Pool catchment area.

Brimbank Council & State Government Sunshine Pool Shame File

Brimbank has a population of over 170,000 people and has only one outdoor pool. Most other councils have 5 - 12 outdoor pools. Brimbank also has close to the worst health status in Victoria. But the Council and the State Government want to demolish 3 outdoor pools and gym and replace them with a small, shallow and very expensive indoor pool and smaller gym.

Join in the campaign to have the pools repaired or replaced properly now!
